This class will focus on the 3,500 year- old art of chasing and repousse. This is the process by which 3D pictures are created in sheet metal using hammers and sets of various-shaped steel punches.  Each beginner to this art may borrow a set of 10 tools from the instructor (limit of 15 students), but will have to supply her/his own pitch bowl and pitch (est. cost: $85). (A couple bowls with pitch may be borrowed).  Beginners will all work on the same patterns.  Students with previous experience should bring their own tools (including bowls, hammers, and chasing tools), and work on more advanced patterns of their own choosing.  If time allows we may do some tool-making, as well.  The $20 materials fee is included in the cost of the course.
