LEARN REIKI. Come learn ORIGINAL REIKI as taught by Usui Sensi, the founder of Reiki from Kyoto, Japan.  All humans possess the ability to give and receive healing energy from the universe; however, this healing ability is often dormant or forgotten. In order to be blessed with this great healing energy, you need to reactivate your ability to attune yourself to the universe.  Shoden Jikiden Reiki is a healing art which teaches you to learn how to heal yourself and others by learning the original teachings of Usui Reiki. You will learn the history and origins of Reiki. This course will include approximately 8 hours of hands on practice with fellow students.  Upon completion of this 20 hour course, you will be certified as a Reiki practitioner. Your instructor, Ernie Linkous has been teaching Reiki since 2005.   We have student parking in level P2 located underground at the Cesar E Chavez Campus at 1901 Main Street. To access the underground parking, head south on Main St. and turn right into the driveway behind the campus.  We also have a parking structure located at 1902 National Ave. Permits are required for both places. Permits are free for students and are available at the campus. Parking permits are $10 and are available at the campus. Parking permits are not required for Saturday classes.

This course provides students with a basic overview of the Integrative and Holistic Therapies.  Integrative health is an individualized, client-centered approach to wellness, combining a whole person model with evidence-based strategies and practices.  Students learn how to assist others in setting and achieving health goals by employing integrative tools such as meditation, breath work, yoga, guided imagery, mind-body techniques, whole foods nutrition, exercise and movement, stress management, sound healing, and personal health planning.  Students learn how to help others reduce disease risk by changing lifestyle behaviors.Certified Nurse Assistants can earn 4 CEUs for the successful completion of this course.   Limited scholarships available.  Inquire at 619 388-1910.

Experience natural medicine first hand.  Learn about the philosophy and basic modalities used to cure the common and uncommon health complaints of today.  This course will include lectures, handouts, discussion and the collective experience of fellow students.  The instructor is a naturopathic doctor with a BS in Biomedical Sciences and a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine with a research background in evidence based medicine.   Materials fees are included in the cost of the course and are $10 . This course provides students with an awareness of the different types of dementia and common behaviors associated with dementia.   Strategies and techniques are discussed as well as when to employ these skills.  Hands on role play scenarios will be presented and active student participation will be encouraged.   This class offers 2 CEU'S  Attention CNA and CHHA students: A scholarship is available to pay for this course. This course introduces students to a basic overview of providing care to patients with a traumatic brain injury, or TBI.  Under the direction of licensed healthcare providers, TBI healthcare providers will be able to assist patients with social, personal, and mental health issues.  The student will demonstrate strategies for working with TBI individuals, while providing nursing care and physical safety.
